How Surgery Went

Well surgery went amazingly! the surgeons got to do everything they hoped they could. It turned out to only be 6 and a half hours long not the 8-10 they originally thought. My omentum was big enough and in good shape. they were able to harvest it and transplant it into my groin after debulking the mons and vulva areas. they split the omentum and placed it n the mons and down into the two sides of the vulva. the hope is that it acts as a sponge and soaks up any lymph fluid that accumulates down there in the future. I am incredibly bruised up all over. from the surgery sites to my arms and legs. I went through 7 IV placements in the 7 days I was in the hospital. I had horrible time with stomach problems while in the hospital from the surgery. The first night the pain was about an 8/10 it was so bad. and I wasn't allowed water or ice or anything and my mouth was so dry so I was miserable on top of the pain. and I had the bear hugger on me so I was really hot the whole time as well. its an inflatable blanket that blows hot air through it. so I was very uncomfortable. but it got better the second day they final controlled my pain better.
I remember getting rolled into the OR and seeing the scrub nurse laying out all the instruments and I felt my Heart Rate just sky rocket. I got onto the table and I realized how cold it was in there and then they out warm blankets on me and then the surgeon walks in starts patting my arm and talking to me reassuringly I cant remember what he said or anything I just know it was calm and reassuring and that's when I think they they pushed the meds to make me fall asleep and that's the last thing I remember. Everything is gone after that. Or that's when the versed kicked in. Who knows.
Then I woke up in the PACU which I was stuck there for a long time like 3 hours or so until I could get a room. then I finally got into my room and I could see mom and my sister in law. Being in the hospital is weird because you cant do anything yourself you have to wait on a nurse or CNA for everything which is kinda annoying. at least with the restrictions I had. Also I was not allowed to eat for the first three days then when I finally could I threw everything up which hurt really bad. then I couldn't eat again for another day, then it went better the second go a round. I was a hot mess.
Now I am finally home recovering things are going much more smoothly. I Am able to get up and walk with the walker when I want to. I have had some oozing from my surgical site but not too bad. I have the drains in still. Hoping to get them out this friday. And the wound vacuum will come off wednesday or thursday. So I will have one less thing attached to me.
Well I need to take a nap this took a lot of energy. bye for now.
